On April 24, our own Shannon Polly, co-founder of Positive Business DC (PBDC), will be presenting Change is Not a Dirty Word, the 3rd in our speaker series Well-being in The Workplace.  Shannon (@ShannonPolly) is one of only approximately 300 people in world who has received a Master of Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania under Dr. Martin Seligman and has been an assistant instructor in the MAPP program at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a contributor to the book, Positive Psychology at Work, has developed curriculum for the higher education version of the movie, Happy and has been a facilitator for the Master Resiliency Training (MRT) program for the U.S. Army.

Shannon will be sharing the methodology associated with positive organizational change known as Appreciative Inquiry (AI) as well as recent insights from AI Summits in Cleveland and Cincinnati.  Interestingly, for this session, we took a poll on our website and Appreciative Inquiry came up on top as the topic our members most wanted to hear next.   We were not surprised – there has been a lot of buzz around this topic.

If you are not familiar, Appreciative Inquiry looks to amplify what’s right with an organization rather than trying to identify and lessen weaknesses. It is used to evaluate past and present capacities related to achievements, assets, unexplored potentials, innovations, strengths, opportunities, lived values, traditions, strategic competencies, and visions of valued and possible futures. The result can be highly motivating and lead to changes never thought possible.

Our previous sessions were very well received and the majority of the participants stayed for as long as we had the venue available.  We expect this one will be just as motivating!  In fact, if you missed it, check out the story of Natural Artistry here – PBDC is having an impact.

Our April 24 session will be held at 7 pm at Canvas in Georgetown (1203 19th St. NW,  Washington,  DC ) and includes refreshments.  So, come out and join us.  And if you haven’t yet, follow us on Twitter: @PositiveBizDC and Facebook. And please don’t forget to register to see what the excitement is all about! Space is limited. images
